Accreditation is important when taking helicopter pilot courses since being a pilot is subject to federal regulation. This can give students, the public, and the aviation industry reassurance that the education is of quality; that it is sound, reliable, and safe. In addition, accreditation guarantees that the education and helicopter pilot's license obtained will be of value aviation industry.

Students should also make sure that the program is “part 141” approved. This means that the program was reviewed and approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
